a new year is coming | make it a good one
I absolutely love the new year. The New Years holiday is possibly a close second to my all time favorite holiday, Christmas. While Christmas is full of reflection and tenderness, giving and receiving, focusing on the Savior, and serving others, New Years is a time for ruthless evaluation and looking forward. I love that these holidays are next to each other and are total opposites!
As a mom of seven, I crave organization and simplicity. Over the last couple of years, I have been working towards a more minimal lifestyle. One of the things I love about viewing life this way is the importance of prioritization. You begin to filter out the unnecessary, and only spend your time and energy on something important.
Here is a new way to look at your calendar as you plan out 2019….
Calendar in your downtime first. Perhaps you want to spend every Friday reading a book as a reward to yourself of accomplishing what you needed to during the week - plan it. Maybe you know that you do best when you keep Saturdays as a family day with nowhere to go - plan on it. Know you want to go on vacation in July? Put it on the calendar first and work everything else around it. It also helps motivate us to budget and save for those things we are looking forward to!
Prioritize your rest, relaxation, and mental health. Plan for your family time, your inspirations, and the things you love. You matter too. Chances are, if you are reading this post, you are the one who is mostly in charge of your family’s schedule. Don’t forget to add yourself into it. You also know best what would serve your family’s needs, so trust your intuition and make it happen!
Remind yourself daily!
Now that you have your priorities on your calendar, add in the things you need to, but rest easy knowing that the things that bring you joy and peace are taking priority and are going to happen! You can make your life what you want it to be. Here’s to a fabulous New Year!
